Clara Dantas Moura – Fall 2024

Clara Dantas Moura completed her Bachelor of Science (2022) and Master of Science (2023) in Chemical and Biological Engineering from the University of Minho (UMinho). In 2025, she began her PhD project, building on her Master’s research on using biogas to convert food waste into sustainable protein for aquafeeds.

Clara is a research fellow on the ESSEntial project at Centre of Biological Engineering (CEB), has completed UMinho’s Open Science Summer School, serves as the president of the Biological Engineering Alumni Association and a collaborator at Science Through Our Lives (STOL). Driven by her passion for making scientific research more accessible, Clara is dedicated to bridging the gap between science and the public. She is committed to building a career as both a researcher and science communicator.

For her outreach project, Clara did just that: making research more accessible to the public. She created and launched various social media accounts (X, Threads, Instagram and LinkedIn) for the Environmental Biotechnology Laboratory at the Center of Biological Engineering (CEB), University of Minho, Portugal.

Through these platforms, she aims to share a diversity of posts, such as project motivations, project outputs, and the people behind the science. The content was intentionally designed to capture the attention of both non-scientists interested in science, students (BSc, MSc, PhD) and the scientific community by simplifying complex concepts and sparking curiosity.
