Why We Need Nature-Based Solutions More Than Ever by Ignacio Aguirre.
For his outreach project, Ignacio wrote an op-ed titled “Why we need nature-based solutions more than ever”. This piece is intended as a call to world leaders to put forth investments necessary to carry out nature based solutions described in the UN ADAPT NOW proposal.
Ignacio focused on examples from Alberta, Canada, where beaver dam analogues have been used successfully to mitigate storm damage, and how these solutions are our best hope to mitigate hazards related to climate change. Ignacio is currently updating his op-ed, editing and preparing to resubmit for publication.
