Kohinoor Begum – Fall 2021

Urban Composting by Kohinoor Begum.

Kohinoor Begum, a PhD student at the CUNY Graduate Center, created a live presentation for her community in New York City about the science and benefits of urban composting. Kohinoor’s research focuses mostly on urban soils that have been transformed almost entirely by human induced activities.

Kohinoor hopes her community presentation will influence and encourage those in urban areas to compost more frequently and efficiently, and aims to increase the health of urbans soils which benefit groups such as community food growers and stormwater managers. Her presentation also encompasses practical tips for effective urban composting.
