This morning, I had a meeting with a staffer in Maggie Hassan’s office, in which we asked her to support the Environmental Justice for All Act and to see that bold, science-based climate and energy policy was included in the American Jobs Plan during the budget reconciliation process this August. As a young scientist, I was overwhelmed at first by the steep learning curve of policy jargon I had to climb in the weeks leading up to the meeting, but this morning as I spoke, I felt such a resounding sense of passion and purpose — both for the science that I do and it’s potential to translate into profound policy solutions.
