Vyshnavi is a postdoctoral researcher at Princeton University with a PhD in Chemistry, who participated in the Fall 2024 Young Voices of Science program. During her time in the program, Vyshnavi wrote a piece for Stories in Science, a special series put out by YVoS publication partner The Civic Science Times that is managed by the Civic Science Media Lab. Her first non-technical science published article, this piece described her experience as a climate change solutions researcher experiencing the catastrophic effects of the climate crisis firsthand. By skillfully weaving in a story of her noticing a delay in the changing autumn leaves, she crafted a touching, relatable and uplifting story about overcoming research roadblocks and climate anxiety.
Now back for a second time, this YVoS alumni has written another compelling essay titled “Help comes from the unlikeliest places, if only we can embrace it”. This piece blends a personal story about a challenging experience with broader reflections on resilience, humility and scientific growth. Her piece, published in Planet Forward, is also being entered into consideration for Storyfest 2026. To read her piece and to vote when the time comes, follow the link here!
