Anna Dubey (she/her) is a recent graduate from Brown University where she studied ecology, evolution, and organismal biology with Dr. John Witman. She now works for an environmental nonprofit called Adamah, which aims to cultivate a deep connection between Jewish cultures and communities and the natural world.
When Anna first started at Brown, she was fascinated by how climate change structured ecological communities, and focused a lot of her work on that topic. “However,” Anna wrote, “I soon learned that research only impacts our world if people can understand it.”
For her Young Voices of Science project, Anna hoped to “develop the skills to engage a broad array of people in climate science and policy.” She decided to start an environmental policy action alert system to empower readers with specific ways they can take action on conservation initiatives. To that end, she launched the Coastal and Marine Action Alert system with The Wildlife Society. She has already sent out three policy alerts on topics ranging from proposed changes to the Endangered Species Act to attacks on the Clean Water Act.
